MOHAMMAD HAFEEZ ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT FROM TEST CRICKET:
Former Pakistani Captain Mohmmad Hafeez decided that he will retire after the ongoing last test match of the series against New Zealand. After the play of the 2nd day of 3rd test match ended, in a press conference Muhammad Hafeez stated that he's not going to continue his test career because he want to be more focused on limited over cricket. He said that: "I am eyeing to represent Pakistan in ICC World Cup 2019. I'm honored that I portrayed the country in 55 test matches, including the juncture of leading the team as a captain. I'm gratified that I executed the best of my capabilities in my 15 years-long Test career. I wish the Pakistan Test team good luck for their upcoming test series against South Africa. Our team management specially the coach and captain had worked hard to make skillful, enthusiast and determined team of players who are able to serve Pakistan Cricket Team for long."
Mohammad Hafeez, who's nick name is Professor in Pakistan Cricket team and Chanda in his family, was born on 17 October 1980 in Sargodha. He's a batting all-rounder and usually opens for Pakistan Cricket Team. He played his debut test match on 20 August 2004 against Bangladesh. He played 52 test matches and scored 3,644 runs with the average of 39.35. He listed 10 tons and 12 half centuries on his track record of test career. His best score in test format is 224 runs vs Bangladesh in Khulna, 2015. Mohammad Hafeez bowled 4007 bowls till now and took 53 wickets with the average of 33.84. His best bowling figures are 4/16. Hafeez is known as a good and active fielder and he took 43 catches in the field. Professor has suffered some controversies regarding his bowling action and he was banned by ICC two times cause of his illegal bowling action. Regardless, he has always been a death threat for left handed batsman.
PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani admitted the unforgettable servings of Mohammad Hafeez in test cricket and paid a tribute to him by saying that: "Hafeez's contributions in Test cricket will be remembered for a long time. He provided some match winning performances for Pakistan in the test format. His bowling always been a reason of balance in Pakistan XI."
Professor thinks that it is the right time to take retirement from test cricket because he want to pay his full concentration on World Cup 2019. He's more interested in white ball cricket. His friends and fans are sending him wishes and respecting his decision. Moreover he also tweeted about his retirement.
